Aldous Huxley's "The Doors of Perception" described mescalin in many interesting ways. A cactus from Mexico called Peyote is where the drug mescalin originates from. A dose of mescalin can take a person to another level of consciousness. Huxley explained his reaction to this drug in a unique way. He noted that after taking mescalin he began to see things in a different perception. He noticed that colors were more vibrant and live. He also mentioned that his true mind aroused and this allowed him to see things with an inner light. Huxley also said that during the time he was under the influence of mescalin he was able to be more aware of the inner world. Another idea that has been suggested by Huxley is that every person sometimes needs a chemical vacation from his distasteful surroundings.
